The bamboo used for theotherstraw is harvested in Northern Vietnam. After harvest, the bamboo is then transferred to nearby local communities where the production of the straws takes place.

Each step of the production process from harvest, design to engravement is conducted by local men and women, and ethnic minority groups in Northern Vietnam. We provide economic opportunities and sustainable job creation to them that aim to improve their livelihoods and well-being for themselves, their families and communities for generations to come.

Metal straws take a lot of energy to produce. The carbon footprint of steel straws is significantly greater than bamboo straws. Unlike bamboo straws, steel straws are not biodegradable. Eventually adding to the wast problem.There are many types of stainless steel straws; some containing toxic metals combined within the stainless steel. When heated up these toxins can leach into your drink. Paper straws are not necessarily environmentally friendly. Paper straws made from fresh rawmaterials that contribute to deforestation and habitat damage.Paper straws have a higher carbon footprint due to the manufacturing process. The majority of paper straw brands use harmful chemicals in the manufacturing process as a way of overcoming common complaints such as paper straws getting soggy too quickly or the colour of paper straws leaching into drinks. The best environmentally friendly solution is to avoid single-use items altogether in favour of reusable bamboo straws.

Yes we do. We can customise our straws with your logo, contact details or unique message. These are perfect for events, weddings, campaigns or corporate gifting!

Our reusable bamboo straws will last months in a commercial setting. Always taking good care of them i.e washing directly after use, letting them dry before using again.

Yes they are. We recommend handwashing them tho as they will last significantly longer. However, for restaurants/bars/cafes we understand they don't have this time so cleaning them in the dishwasher is best.

BEWARE - many straw cleaning brushes out there are made from plastic. Sad isn't it? But not ours. Our straw cleaning brushes are fully plastic-free and made from coconut fibre. Better for you, better for the planet.
